Your SCS e-mail address is email@example.com. To read your SCS e-mail, you may access our webmail system at https://mail.scs.illinois.edu. In addition, you may use any secure POP or IMAP client from your own computer. We recommend that you use IMAP over POP because your mail will always be kept on our server and will be backed up. However if you plan on storing a large amount of mail you might be subject to fees. More information on configuring clients can be found at the bottom of the page.
Forwarding your @illinois.edu email to SCS
Your firstname.lastname@example.org e-mail address is the responsibility of CITES, not SCS. It is possible to have mail sent to your @illinois.edu address delivered to your SCS e-mail account. Please refer to CITES's documentation on Redirecting your Email.
Forwarding your SCS Mail to another account
If you need to set up e-mail forwarding for your SCS e-mail address, go to https://alchemy.scs.uiuc.edu/passwords/scripts/userfwd.php and log in with your SCS user name and password.
SCS has SPAM filters in place to cut down on the volume of unsolicited e-mail recieved by our users. These filters are highly effective and rarely mistakenly mark a message as SPAM. However, it can happen, so all SPAM e-mail you recieve will be stored in a mail folder called "SPAM". You may adjust settings such as sender whitelists and blacklists via the Mail Filter Configuration.
A vacation message can be configured to automatically respond to email to inform the sender that you are out of the office for an extended period of time. If you would like to set up a vacation message on your account, please access our automated Vacation Message System and log in with your SCS user name and password.
